Supracultural Principle 60 - God's provision

BIBLICAL BASIS

God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. - 2 Corinthians 9:8

We've noted that most of God's promises for being faithful with material possessions relate to eternity and not to our life here on this earth. However, Paul also talked about temporal blessings. He reminded the Corinthians that if they were faithful and generous in helping others, God would take care of them. They would have all they needed in all things and at all times. And with what God provided, they would be able to "abound in every good work."

God never promised to give us everything we want or desire. But he has promised to meet our needs. The apostle Paul knew what this meant by personal experience. This is why he wrote to the Philippians-who sacrificed significantly to help him-reassuring them, "My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).

We must note, however, that part of God's grace may be the strength to endure difficult economic times and to learn "the secret of being content in any and every situation" (Philippians 4:12).

GOD'S PROVISION

When we're faithful in our giving, God will meet our material needs.

Paul's personal testimony was that he had learned that secret. And Christians can claim the same promise today.
